Scholarship

The Solano County Chapter has provided annual college scholarships to Solano County High School graduating senior for over thirty years.  The Scholarship Committee is assisted by a volunteer group of Fairfield citizens, named Assist-A-Grad, who provide administrative service to anyone or any group who wishes to participate. Assist-A Grad schedules applicants who meet our criteria for personal interviews with the Chapter Scholarship Committee for award selection. At the 2015 Assist-A-Grad Awards Ceremony, 81 sponsors presented 154 scholarships valued at $117,350.

Our Chapter currently has offered three scholarships annually at $1,000 each.  However, due to outstanding quality of the applicants the chapter membership responded to the Committee’s request and increased their contributions for an additional student each year over the past four years.  Due to the shocking increase in education costs, we are increasing the value for 2016, to three scholarships at $1,500.

Scholarship applications must meet the following criteria:  Applicant must intend to pursue an officer commissioning program in the uniformed services (USA, USN, USCG, USAF, USMC, NOAA, USPHS).  The applicant must be a member of a current Solano County high school graduating class with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and should have demonstrated leadership ability in school and/or community.  Financial need will also be considered.

Tax deductible contributions may be made at any time. Contributions should be Solano County Chapter MOAA, P.O. Box 1443, Travis AFB,CA 94535 or given to the Chapter Treasurer at the monthly luncheon.
